ITANAGAR, Jun 29: All Papu Valley Youths Welfare Association (APVYWA) has written to district agriculture officer, East Kameng district drawing his attention towards problems faced by farming community of area.

Senior citizen’s death mourned
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Nyapin Sangram Phassang Students’ Union has deeply mourned the death of Ringu Rongma, who died aged 70 after a brief illness on June 22.
Rongma was father of AAPSU convenor Ringu Kuku. He left behind six sons and two daughters.
Rongma was working as malaria staff under Nyapin community health centre, Kurung Kumey district.
“He was one of the senior most citizens of Nyapin area. His death is a great to the people of the entire area,” the students’ union said in a release and prayed to almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: The Arunachal Pradesh Unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has rubbished the dissolution of the Party’s State body.

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Congress legislator from Punjab Ajit Singh created a major controversy by moving a resolution in state assembly to send stray dogs to China and North East in order to fight the menace of stray dogs. He made this resolution while referring to common notion that people of NE eat dog meat.
This insulting reference came on a day when students communities of North East under the banner of North East Student Organization (NESO) organized a protest rally in capital cities of all North East states against discrimination meted out to NE students in mainland India.
In Itanagar, student communities’ led by All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) protested outside Rajbhawan. Large number of people including ordinary citizen and school students took part in the protest rally.
Shouting slogans and holding banners, the students protested against racial discrimination of North East people in various parts of state.
Addressing the large gathering, AAPSU president Takam Tatung said despite Arunachal being natural barrier against China, central government has always neglected this state. “Many of our sportsperson and businessmen are not allowed to visit China because of staple visa issue. This leads to lost of the opportunities for many budding sportsperson. Central has not taken any corrective measure in this regard,” said Tatung.
He further added, “When we go out of NE we are treated like alien creature. Many mainland Indians are staying in NE region but we let them without any trouble. We appeal central government to come up with strong law to tackle such discrimination.”
NESO Secretary General Gumjum Haider in his address while highlighting various steps taken by NESO to protest against discrimination to NE people urged central government to give separate time zone for region. The unnatural death of Manipuri student Richard Loitam at Bangalore allegedly due to injury received from beating at the hands of his seniors had led to nationwide uproar. Similarly Meghalaya student Dana Sangma committed suicide after teachers scolded for allegedly indulging in malpractice during exam at Amity University.
Meanwhile former MP of Arunachal Kiren Rijiju has strongly condemned the resolution moved by Congress MLA from Punjab. While terming the move as unfortunate, the former MP said lack of knowledge about rich culture of North East often leads to such misunderstanding about this region.
Meet on clean and green Daporijo held
Daporijo, Jun 29: In continuation of its bid to clean up and beautify Daporijo township, a meeting was convened by district administration and urban development department at New Market here yesterday to chalk out further strategies to achieve the mission.
Attending the meeting legislator Tapen Siga informed about the efforts being under taken and schemes submitted to the Government for development of the town. He stressed on proper sanitation and hygiene practices along with strong sense of cleanliness among people to accomplish the mission. He said that the efforts of the Government alone were not sufficient unless people are aware of the basic civic sense.
Deputy Commissioner Tahang Taggu said that the dream of clean and green Daporijo could only be achieved through active participation and initiative of the people. He said that the district administration has been conducting cleanliness drive in the township on regular basis. Efforts are on for proper segregation of market areas selling vegetables and meat. Evacuation of stray animals are being conducted and police patrolling at night intensified, informed Taggu. Concerned at frequent fire accidents, the DC appealed to the public to be careful in handling highly inflammable materials like petrol, kerosine and maintain safety rules while using LPGs to prevent fatal accidents.

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: In a letter to the Minister of Home Affairs, the Chief Minister has sought his help in coping with the flood havoc in the state.
“Intervene and lend a helping hand in these times of distress by dispatching a High Level Central Team to assess the situation and damages caused not only to property but also the livelihood of the people immediately in order to suggest a means to enable us to tide over the hard times” the memorandum read.
“This year has been one of the worst in recent times as torrential rains have caused havoc in most parts of the state causing disruption in every field of life. Poor and rural people in interior parts are the worst affected. Even the State capital, Itanagar, has fallen victim to Nature’s fury and is cut off from rest of the world for the last few days,” the Chief Minister informed Centre.
“Hundreds of villagers have been rendered homeless, estranged and marooned in various
pockets of Changlang, Lohit, Dibang Valley, East Siang and East Kameng districts.

They informed that the villagers, in a meeting yesterday, decided to lodge a complaint against the firm executing the formation cutting work with Police and district administration for the damages caused to them. The formation cutting work is being undertaken by SRK Company, they said.
The panchayat leaders duo, on behalf of the affected people, appealed to Itanagar MLA, District Administration and authorities concerned to take necessary action against the firm for causing artificial flood thereby harassing the villagers for no fault of theirs.
They also appealed to the authorities concerned to pay the necessary compensation to the people affected by the four lane highway project at the earliest.
Rayang KGBV upgraded, MLA prioritise education

RUKSIN, Jun 29: Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) set up at Ryang in Ruksin block and run by Arunachal Siksha Vikash Samiti has been upgraded to secondary school. The school will come under Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Samiti from this year.
The present enrollment capacity of the school is around 140 student. However, it would be increased during the coming years, School Management Committee (SMC).
Speaking at the inaugural function, local MLA Tangor Tapak urged the SMC of the KGBV to conduct the school activities well. He suggested the guardians to guide their children on the right path and not to confront with teaching staff and the SMC members as well.

Festival of Bandh and chemotherapy of an ailing father

This is apropos to letter ‘Festival of bandhs’ written by Alvish on June 27, where he had expressed his anger in the following words‘… sometimes I think I shall stand with my loaded 12 bore to see who dares to open or close my shop’.
The bandh callers with their mighty looks yell at the shopkeepers to close all the
shops or else get beaten up while the Bazar committee directs the shopkeepers to
open up their shops or else face shutter down for five consecutive days for non-
Confused! Isn’t It?
I would like to share with you a similar problem faced by me while celebrating the so called bandh festival. And also I would like to pass this message to the bandh callers and curse them; someday they must be enmeshed with the similar problem that pained me a lot.
I took my father to Shristi Hospital Dibrugarh on referral for further investigation where it was revealed that he has Papillary Adenocarcinoma.
As the Assamese saying goes “bipot okhole na ahe”, the security guard at Shristi Hospital hit an SUV with my vehicle at the entrance while trying to park it. At first appeal I refused to give him the key but when he persistently asked me I gave it as I was busy with the patient at the scanning room. The consequences was that my car was badly damaged, resulted in a net loss of 17,000/. Please note that the medical authority did not entertain my case as I was an outsider.
Now, within my own land Arunachal, I have been deprived of my chance by my Arunachalee brothers, the bandh callers.
I arrived at Naharlagun with my ailing father after cancellation of flight tickets
to Guwahati from Dibrugarh as ferries at Majorbari and Bogeebil was abandoned due
to torrential rain. Here again a sum of Rs 9,300/-
At the Arunachal State Hospital (General Hospital) Naharlgun, the Radiation Oncologist, after thorough examination, opted that Chemotherapy would start from June 25th which would last for three days.
But alas! As misfortune never comes alone, we had to stop the chemotherapy for the 2nd day of the 1st cycle i.e. 26th as my Arunachalee brothers were to celebrate their bandh festival. So we had to stay back at the hotel room which we had booked for 4 (four) days, now extended to 7 days (day Rs 450 x 7 days).
I pray the almighty Donyi-
Henceforth, I advise and caution my fellow Arunachalees to keep in mind that if you happens to go outside your home on your own vehicle, never let second party drive/ park your vehicle.
Secondly, dear bandh callers, for god’s sake, please desist from this bandh festival because you or your near and dear may be next in line. Imagine what a loss of time, money and above all the health!

Last year, in the RFO exam, IT engineering students were not allowed to sit, as according to them, we were not eligible. Again, in the AE recruitment examination, IT engineering was not mentioned. And this time too, in the recent advertisement for the post of Assistant Conservator of Forest, the IT engineering branch is again not mentioned.
I want to ask APPSC why they have left us out when they have included computer engineering
and computer application. I want to ask them the major difference between computer
engineering and Information technology. Rather Information Technology itself came
from Computer engineering. Computer Application is a three years course and is a

Please explain to us what is the difference between computer engineering, computer application and information technology? If there is no place for IT engineers in the state, then why the Directorate of Higher Education is sending students outside to study IT?
For the kind knowledge of the APPSC, even in the IFS exam conducted by the UPSC, IT engineering students are eligible to appear. Then, why not in APPSC? Is this APPSC gigher or different from the UPSC? I don’t think so.
I was silent earlier fearing if I stand up, this system will engulf me because that’s how our state has become. Honesty and truth is gone far away. Give a chance to Sangma

In the realms of politics, P A Sangma has been the brightest star of the north-
His performance as a union labour minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, spoke volumes about his leadership.
Besides his many achievements, he will be best known for the progressive issues that he espoused; empowerment of woman, ethics in public life, social security measures for the downtrodden, pension for industrial workers and elimination of child labour were some of the many noble causes that he not only believed in but also supported through initiatives in every assignment that he handled.
His finest hour came when he assumed the office of the Speaker executing his responsibilities with great panache.
If I were to use only a single adjective to describe Sangma I would probably use ‘dynamite’ because like dynamite he has been packed with so much power and energy.
Sangma despite humble background with a tribal tag he worked to the top through sheer hard work paving way for million youths showing trails of hope inspiring young minds.
So, as a family of the northeast region, it’s time for us to rekindle our thoughts and join hands together cutting across party lines by supporting P.A. Sangma. The graph of political parties may keep shifting but this moment once gone will never come back in lifetime, and as a family nation, we must steel ourselves to do whatever it takes to win.

Where there is no place for talents
Dear Editor,
I would like to express my grievances regarding prevailing selection procedure for the appointment in group "C" posts in education department. In my view, the interview held for selection of candidates for the group "C" Posts in the education Department were just a formality and entertainment.
Here, 1 would like to say a few words about the recently conducted interview for the posts of LDC in the month of April this year in the Administrative Office, Seppa.
I appeared the interview for the above mentioned post and I also qualified in written
test and viva-
I don't know why I couldn't get appointment? I have the qualification of three years diploma in Computer Science Engineering and I also have one year experience.
The reason I couldn't get appointment is because I am not the relative of MLA's/Minister's and HOD and I know that having them as relative helps in procuring a job. I can confidently say that if it comes to talents, I can challenge those appointed candidates in all aspect.
So, I appeal to all the poor educated youngsters of the state to come forward and be together to fight against such illegal appointments and activities.

Rural development department is one of the most important departments as it is directly related to the grass root and panchayat. But the Director of the Department does not attend office regularly which has left the public and the state suffering.
I request him to kindly attend office regularly or allow someone else to take charge.

Dear Editor,
I would like to appeal leaders of the all parties to support Sangma in the upcoming presidential election. He is a genuine and right candidate.
Being a former speaker of the Lok Shaba, he knows the ground reality of the nation's affairs. He can lead the nation in better way.
I also appeal to the leaders of the all parties without considering the party lines, colour, creed, religion to support and elect Sangma as the president.
